NEW BRIGHTON WATERPARK

On Tuesday there was an 'info' night at The Lounge for the the proposed Aquatic Centre. Tim Sintes gave a great talk and encouraged people to check out this website:

It's a GREAT concept & would work brilliantly to provide our community with not just a fantastic facility, but would draw the community together as well. If you follow the link HERE, you'll be able to sign the petition online - we need as many people as possible to do this BEFORE FEB 18TH - so please click the link & show your support!

 

LENT 

Lent begins with an Ash Wednesday service on WEDNESDAY 13TH FEBRUARY  you are all most welcome to join us for that....plus, there is a 

Lenten study  beginning called 'Life of Prayer'  If you'd like to join us for that, ring Katrina or Carlie  on 388 9118 for more details:)

Hello there, friends.....sooooo want to hear some Goss? Catch up with what's going on?

NEWS ITEM #1:
LUNCH! I hope everyone who came enjoyed the YUMMY food...the bacon & egg pie, coleslaw, tomatoes, potatoes.....AND [best of all in my humble opinion!] the scones & cream!
Weren't there? Believe me, the COMMUNITY LUNCHES are definitely NOT to be missed....they're on every WEDNESDAY at NOON...hope to see you next time!

The centre continues to be a hub of activity with THE LOUNGE open MONDAY-FRIDAY 10-4PM....& that we simply couldn't do without our FANTASTIC VOLUNTEERS [thank you:):)]

The PROJECT COMMITTEE has their FIRST MEETING on FRIDAY 8TH FEBRUARY....so welcome back to our great team!
Naturally, changes have been happening - Mary, our community worker is now a GRANDMOTHER to baby Oliver [yay!]..... & Christine will join Kyle on placement to learn the 'ins & outs' of a community organisation.

Our VEGIE CO-OP TEAM is ready to go on FEBRUARY 12th, supported by the leadership of Stuart, Jeff & Christine

SUPPORTERS..... the brilliant people & organisations including a shout out to Lotteries, the David Ellison Trust, CCC, Christchurch Anglican Diocese, St Christopher's, Avonhead, the District Health Board, Christchurch Cathedral, Christchurch City Mission, St Saviours, Sydenham.......they make what we do possible.....THANK YOU!!!!.......add in our amazing local communities of St Luke's, South Brighton & St Faith's, New Brighton & we're all on board for an exciting year ahead......couldn't do it without you:):):)

Yep, we soooo enjoyed the last COMMUNITY FUN DAY [see previous post!] that we're holding our next one on 
MARCH 16TH 
The venue has changed, though. This one will be held at ST FAITH'S, 46 HAWKE ST, NEW BRIGHTON
from 11AM - 2PM
Hope you can join us there - all sorts of FUN THINGS are being organised as I write!!!!!!!
AND........
our COMMUNITY LUNCHES are starting up again at ST FAITHS as well, on JANUARY 30TH AT 12 NOON
We'd LOVE you to join us....it's free, too - BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

OUR FUN COMMUNITY DAY!

Our Community Day has come & gone.....hope you were one of the over 100 peeps who came by & enjoyed the day with us!
Nothing like a bit of fairy floss to get some energy...like Kay!

Or a snag off the BBQ, for that matter...lots of people sampled Ken & Peter's cooking:

We LOVED the music & are so thankful for extra-ordinary talented folks like Janelle & Andrew...

& Chloe.....amongst them........

Can you believe the weather we had? Just PERFECT between two showery days......how blessed are we?!! Thanks to all those who helped - couldn't have done it without you & all those who came - wouldn't have been fun without you.........til next time:):)

CHRISTMAS CHEER & DATES FOR RE-OPENING IN 2013..

A BIG thank you to all those who helped out at our Shared Festive Christmas Lunch at the centre on Wednesday the 19th......what a fabulous time we had with our 3 course meal & the carols & musical items....just wonderful!!!

That was our last big community event for 2012.....the lounge is now CLOSED....but will

REOPEN ON MONDAY JANUARY 14TH 2013......

Everything will be back to normal then,  with our opening hours the usual Monday to Friday from 10am - 4pm.......have a lovely Christmas/New Year break, folks - & we'll see you NEXT year:):):)
